whole wheat, whole grain wheat, breadHello, fellow health conscious friends.  With all of the scares in the media over some food product turning out to be cancer-causing, or fat-causing, or insanity-causing, no wonder you can be overwhelmed with all this conflicting information that may or may not harm you.  You want to live a long life and live it well, so it is important that you understand as much as possible when making a powerful choice in the items you purchase at the grocery store.  After all, there are so many marketing schemes to have you believing that one fat-free item is much more healthier than the original product, despite having 10 times more sugar.

In particular, I will be reviewing wheat products, since I find that to be the first thing thats omitted from people’s normal eating regimens.  Carbs are made to sound as evil as the devil himself, but with the proper knowledge and education you will be able to enjoy carbs in a healthy manner that is, for once, consistent with its labeling.

I know you are asking, “Why do I need to know anymore than I already do?  All I need to do is pick up the bag of sandwich bread, see that it reads ‘whole wheat’ on the front and I’m good to go”.

But that, my friend, is where you are misled.  Hate to break it to you, but “whole wheat” doesn’t mean aything.  Tons of packages will read “whole wheat”, but when you flip the bag of bread on its side you will see in the list of ingredients that it still says “enriched flour”, which is the same flour used to make white bread.  Yes, it is still the over processed flour that is providing absolutely no bran, no nutrients, no nutritional value to your starving body.

All it takes is just one additional word in the ingredient name to ensure you are eating healthier.  Ready?  It is the word “grain”!  Yes, all you need to be sure that you are not being duped by the marketing masters is that you see the words “whole grain wheat”, because it means that the flour is not enriched (and overprocessed) but that it is keeping some of the wheat grains intact, and wheat grains are what provide that nutrition.  They are what your digestive system will break down and gain energy from, to carry althroughout your body.

Ironically, you will see those Orowheat packages of “7 Grain” and “12 Grain” slices of sandwich bread, and naturally you will think that those will be far more healthier than the “Whole Grain Wheat” loaf of bread.

But, take a good look at the ingredients list, and you will find that the 7 and 12 Grain loaf does not have any whole grains whatsoever.  Just a bunch of enriched flour, corn syrup, and nothing of real nutritional value.  Looks deceiving, doesn’t it?  Especially when the bread looks like wheat bread.  I’m sure it is wheat bread, but in honesty it is processed wheat bread under the guise of sneaky packaging.
